ADT

Asynchronous Data Transfer (ADT)

AES

Advanced Encryption Standard (AES): The standard for the encryption of electronic data established by the United States (U.S). National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2001. The algorithm described by Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a symmetric-key algorithm (the same key is used for both encryption and decryption).

APDU

Application Protocol Data Unit (APDU)

BMK

Brand Protection MAC’ing key (BMK)

BP

Brand Protection (BP)

BSK

Brand Protection Signing Key (BSK)

BSP

Board Support Package (BSP)

CA

Certificate Authority (CA)

CL

Contactless (CL): A communication method that does not require physical contact between devices.

COTT

Cryptographic One-Time Token (COTT)

Graphical User Interface (GUI)

I2C

Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C): A synchronous serial communication bus.

IDE

IRQ

Interrupt Request (IRQ): A type of exception that breaks the linear flow of a program. The requesting module needs a software service routine to evaluate its current state and take the necessary actions.

MAC

Message Authentication Code (MAC): Used to prove message integrity.

MCU

Microcontroller Unit (MCU): One or more processor cores along with memory and programmable input/output peripherals.

NDEF

NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF): A standardized data format specification by the Near Field Communication (NFC) Forum to describe how a set of actions are to be encoded onto a NFC tag or to be exchanged between two active NFC devices.

NFC

Near Field Communication

OS

Operating System (OS)

PAL

Platform Abstraction Layer (PAL): The layer of the NFC stack that is responsible for the communication with the NFC controller.

PT

Pass-Through (PT)

SCH

Static Connection Handover (SCH)

SCL

Serial Clock Line (SCL)

SDA

Serial Data Line (SDA)

UART

Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART): A hardware communication protocol that uses a serial communication interface to transmit and receive data.

UID

Unique Identifier (UID)

URI

Uniform Resource Identifier (URI): A string of characters that uniquely identify a name or a resource on a network, such as the Internet.

URL

Uniform Resource Locator (URL): A unique identifier used to locate a resource on the Internet (also referred to as a web address).
